CHILD ABUSE & NEGLECT IN AUSTRALIA
The problems facing Australian children are at epidemic levels, underscored by the data from the Australian Institute of Family Studies showing:-
- 317,000 reports of child neglect occurring through the 2007-2008 financial year, 1 every 1.6 minutes
- A 200% growth in the reported cases of child neglect over the past 10 years
- 60% of all reports surrounding Physical, Sexual or Emotional abuse
